Open Call: My Internet Self

Attention All Creative Individuals:

New York City and San Francisco-based art collective, The Lowbrow Society for The Arts, is holding an open call for submissions to our next project, “My Internet Self”.

Participants will explore the differences between their online persona and how they present themselves in real life.

The internet allows us a certain amount of anonymity, putting the user in control of how we are viewed by others, and allows us to speak our mind without having to deal directly with the consequences of our actions.
How do others view you online?
How is this different than people in your day to day life?
How has the fantasy character that we present, taken on a life of its own?

The final product will include a limited edition printed book along with a NYC gallery show to exhibit the books and original art.
Here’s your chance to be part of the NYC art scene (whether or not you consider yourself an artist)!

  • Submission deadline is January 15, 2011
  • Each participant is allowed up to six 8.5″ x 7″ pages
    (including 1 cover page).
  • Submissions must be 8.5″x 7″ (legal size paper folded in half), 300dpi PDF files.
  • Please format your submissions to these specifications;
.jpg, .indd and .eps files will not be accepted.
  • All media that can take to the printed form is accepted: art, writing, cocktail napkins, movie scores, origami, etc.
  • Multiple submissions are allowed. Split internet personalities? Send them all!
  • Preference will be given to submissions including all six pages,
but exceptions will be made for standout work.

Any and all content is allowed, as are anonymous submissions.
All contributors will receive credit (unless stated they wish to remain anonymous) and a copy of the final project.
